Bodega Lanzaga 'Lanzaga' Rioja 2013
93 Points Wine Advocate
The nose of the village red 2013 Lanzaga is simply spectacular. It is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano from Lanciego, fermented in 8,000-kilogram concrete vats with natural yeasts and matured in a combination of 1,500 and 2,500-liter foudres and 225-liter barriques for 14 months. There's no oak, and the nose is super expressive, nuanced and elegant, mixing flowers with wild berries, cured meat, spices and minerals. Even they are surprised by the evolution of the 2013s, as they still remember the challenges of the year. The wines have incredible freshness, and here, there are very elegant and refined tannins. This could very well be my favorite vintage of Lanzaga. 20,890 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2015.
