A wine of surpassing elegance and finesse, offering a perfumed black cherry fruit aroma with hints of rose petals and liquorice; the aromas feature the spiciness of the fruit more than the effect of oak ageing. There is a bright burst of limestone freshness on the palate, a supple texture and a lingering finish. There is less overt tannin than in the Grands Echézeaux, but a finish that is just as long. Open in seven to 10 years and drink over the decades that follow.
