Although 2023 generally lacked acidity, here we have all the tension we want,' says Pierre Lafon. Tasted out of barrel but assembled to resemble the final blend, one could see his reasoning – although there were ripe apple fruit aromas and lush floral notes, there was also noticeable depth and hints of smoke and mineral. The wine was generous but balanced and lingered persistently on the finish. This will drink well young but will continue improving for years in the cellar.
