Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2016
93 Points John Gillman
This will be the easiest of the 2016 grand crus from the Mongeards to find in the market this year and it will be a fine addition to any well-stocked Burgundy cellar. The bouquet is pure, youthfully complex and focused, offering up a lovely mélange of black cherries, black plums, venison, complex soil tones, espresso, bonfires and nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off excellent mid-palate depth, with ripe, well-integrated tannins, excellent focus and balance and a long, pure and nicely structured finish. Fine, fine juice in the making. Drink between 2029-2075.
