The 2021 Riesling Fronholz is from a west-facing site of sandy soils with much quartz. The wine needs air to open up but presents beautiful lightness. This just flows as if on a stream of southern air, bringing freshness and citrus vibes. It's beautifully serene and extremely balanced with a waxy, smooth serenity. The finish is clean-cut. The name Ostertag means “Easter day,” and the family coat of arms shows the Easter lamb carrying a battle flag. This image was the inspiration for the estate’s logo of a sheep.
