Domaine Perrot-Minot "Chambertin-Clos de Beze" Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes 2011
96 Points Vinous Media
Full ruby-red. Discreet spicy aromas of blackberry, licorice and cocoa powder, with hints of minerals and peony. Extremely intense but very backward, showing an almost youthfully bitter quality to the black fruit, licorice and mint flavors. Most impressive today on the very long finish, which features substantial dusty tannins and conveys an impression of tightly coiled energy. This wine may well need a decade of bottle aging.

(vinified with 40% whole clusters). A gorgeously spicy and beautifully layered nose offers up notably ripe aromas of violets, plum, cassis and warm earth. There is impressive volume to the full-bodied and opulently rich flavors that are blessed with an abundance of mouth coating sap that imparts a velvety mouth feel and pushes the very firm tannic spine to the background on the strikingly long and suave finish where a subtle touch of minerality surfaces. This is also a markedly ripe wine for the vintage and it should both repay extended cellaring but drink well young too. Drink: 2023+.
