France's Burgundy region was once the go to wine of dukes and the aristocracy (well, they still kind of are) prior to the industrial revolution. As both the birthplace of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this area showcases an amazingly vast array of different styles for each of these grapes. The breathtakingly beautiful nature of the detail in wines that one can experience here inspires awe, making it easy to understand why so many become ardent fans.
For this event, we will be focusing solely on Chardonnay--what makes it tick, why it grows so well here, why it's called the winemaker's grape, and more.
Wines from each of the following subregions will be sampled:
- Chablis
- Macon
- Puligny-Montrachet
- Chassagne-Montrachet
- Meursault
- Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
