Moreira Olazabal & Borges 'M.O.B' Vinha Senna Tinto 2015
93 Points Wine Advocate
The 2015 Tinto Vinha Senna is mostly a 60/25 blend of Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro, plus Jaen for the rest, aged for 18 months in 15% new French oak. It comes in at 13.2% alcohol. This new brand, said the winery, is from "vineyards located at 600 meters of altitude, located near Seia village (the name Senna was used [in] old times to name the village). Soil is granite and the vineyards are more than 40 years old."
This used to be just called the regular Tinto. It is one of the wines with a name change. Impeccably balanced, this is ripe and round. If the tannins are ripe too, there is still plenty of support for the fruit here. The fruit is delicious, but dry, fresh and lifted all the time. It's so impeccably refined that you can drink it right now, but it will certainly age well. This may be the best wine M.O.B. has made so far, something with a very Burgundian feel to it. The only problem is that the rest of the winery's red lineup this issue offers strong competition. Drink this and the 2016 Gauvé, if you must, but hold the 2015 Garrafeira. It may one day be the best of them
